Dear Friends,

I welcome all of you who went on leave back to Sohar and wish the kids due for their exam'n in the coming week all the best. Few of the members of the Executive Committee including me, parents ourselves also came back from our annual leave. We have met recently and decided on a few activities in the coming weeks.

In the immediate we have the Table Tennis and the Badminton tournament this coming weekend on Friday, 14th September 2012 in the Sohar Sports Complex Indoor Stadium. (A reserve day kept on Friday 21st Sept. 2012.)

Entries in Categories of 10-14 yrs, 15-18 yrs both boys and girls singles as well as adult male and female singles and doubles for the Table Tennis and Badminton event, may please be submitted to the Sports Committee members Mr Nell Vaz 99004413 & Mr Mohd. Asim 92839039 or to any Executive Committee member latest by the evening of Thursday 13th September 2012. Minimum 8 participants in any category for the event to take place.

A nominal entry fee of R.O 1/- per player for active members of ISC, Sohar and R.O 2/- per player for non-members may please be submitted along with the entry. For other details contact Mr Nell Vaz between 6-8 pm. As time is short please submit your entries ASAP.

1. Blood donation drive for Mahatama Gandhi's birth anniversary on Friday 5th Oct 2012. An annual social event conducted for the last 2 years running.
2. Colours of India, a multi-cultural programme from all parts of the country by the Indian Community of Sohar on Thursday, 11th Oct 2012. Details will follow in the subsequent mails. All are welcome to participate in the same. For groups wanting to take part in dance, skit, short play, group song etc. contact the event co-ordinators Mr. Sreekumar 92515803, Mr. Ravishankar 99366597 & Mrs Sonali Khare 95163932.
3. ISC, Sohar Annual corporate cricket tournament on Friday, 9th Nov. 2012.
4. Children's Day celebration including painting, colouring competition for children and sketching by adults on Friday, 16th Nov. 2012.
5. Ladies Day on Friday, 23rd Nov. 2012.
6. Indian Food Festival (dates to be decided after neccesary permission)

Apart from this, the other activities planned are Beach games, a Tennis tournament and of course the Antakhshri and the Quiz event which will be announced once details are finalized. I would request someone to volunteer to organize a Spell Bee contest for children of Sohar. You may contact me for the same. 

Of course for all the above activities to be successful we need the active participation and support of all sections of the Indian society. Events are open to other nationalities as well. Suggestions for events may please be sent to our e-mail ID.
