The Indian Social Club, Sohar

The Indian Social Club, Sohar, is excited to announce the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) and the election for the 2025-26 Management Committee. The AGM will take place on Friday, 28th February 2025, at 5:00 pm at the ISC Sohar premises (located near Sohar Hospital, Muwela).

Important Notice for Members:

Only active members (those who have renewed their membership for 2025) will be eligible to attend the AGM.
Members are encouraged to ensure their membership is up-to-date in order to participate in the meeting.

Welcome Address by the President
Approval of Minutes from the previous AGM
General Secretary's Report
Presentation of the Audited Accounts
Discussion of Specific Issues: Any member wishing to raise specific issues must submit them via email to isc.sohar@gmail.com with the subject “Kind Attn: General Secretary” by Friday, 21st February 2025.
Any Other Issues with the permission of the chair.

Election to the Management Committee (2025-26):

The term of the current Management Committee, formed in 2023, expired on 31st December 2024. As per the Article of Association and the requirements set by the Ministry of Social Development, an election will be held to elect the new Management Committee for the years 2025 and 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility to Contest: Members with two years of continuous membership with the Indian Social Club, Sohar, as of 15th January 2025 are eligible to contest for election.
Eligibility to Vote, Propose, or Second: Only active members (those who have renewed their membership for 2025) by 31st December 2024 can vote, propose, or second a candidate. The full list of members as of 20th January 2025 is available on the club's website.
Nomination and Payment Deadlines: Members wishing to contest, propose, or second a candidate must have paid their dues and renewed their membership for 2025 by 4th February 2025. Nominations will be rejected if this condition is not met.
Voting Eligibility: Members wishing to vote must have paid their dues by 24th February 2025. Only those who have renewed their membership will be allowed to vote.
Proof of Identity: Members must present their Civil I.D card to verify their identity during the election process.

Family Membership Voting and Election Rules:

Voting Rights: For family memberships, only one vote per family will be allowed. Either of the spouses can vote.
Election Eligibility for Family Members: In the case of family memberships for over 2 years, either spouse can stand for election, but both cannot contest.
New Members of 2025: New members who joined in 2025 can attend the AGM but will not have voting rights.
No Proxy Voting: Proxy voting will not be allowed during the election process.

Monday, 20th January 2025: Notification of the Election Process
Tuesday, 4th February 2025: Last date for submission of Nomination Form
Friday, 7th February 2025: Display of candidate names
Friday, 14th February 2025: Last date for withdrawal of candidature
Friday, 21st February 2025: Display of final list of candidates
Friday, 28th February 2025: AGM & Election Day
