Dear Friends,

It has been a long time since I sent a mail and interacted with all of you. Part reason was the recent disturbances in Sohar which now seems to be a bad memory and hopefully such incidents will never happen in a peaceful place like Sohar. Also the kids were having annual examination. But that is all behind us.

What is upon is, is the long and hot summer which lies ahead. Lot of us will go or would have already gone to our respective hometowns for vacations but an equal number will stay behind.

Indian Social Club, Sohar intends to keep all of those who stay behind busy in various cultural and sporting activities. These include a Bengali folk music evening, an open carrom tournament and an open chess tournament.

Indian Social Club, Sohar in association with Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) & the Indian Embassy, Muscat is proud to announce an evening of traditional Bengali folk music titled "Baul Gaan" on 7th June 2011 from 7.30 pm onwards at the Ground Floor Auditorium in Sohar University. The artistes for the same are coming from India.

The entry to the performance is free for all including other nationalities and non-members of Indian Social Club, Sohar. However as seating is limited in the hall it is advisable to be seated 15-20 min before the start of the programme. Seating is on first come first serve basis. You may spread this information amongst your family & friends and all those who are interested in attending the same are welcome to do so.

Indian Social Club, Sohar also announces the 2nd Annual Carrom and Chess tournament to be held in Sohar Plaza, i.e. the Sohar Cinema Complex. The tournament is open to all members and non-members of ISC, Sohar including other nationalities. A nominal entry fee of R.O 1 for members and R.O 2 for non-members will be charged to cover expenses. As the venue is the food court of Sohar Plaza, snacks, drinks etc will not be an issue. Make it a family outing and all will enjoy.

The Carrom tournament is to be held from 2 pm onwards on Friday 17th June 2011. Last date for submission of entries is 15th June.

The Chess tournament is to be held from 2 pm onwards on Friday 1st July 2011. Last date for submission of entries is 29th June.
