Dear Friends,
The T.T & Badminton tournament organized by Indian Soial Club, Sohar was
conducted very successfully last Friday. More than 120 contestants took part in
the twin events. I wish to thank Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel for sponsoring the
prizes. The names of the prize winners in various categories are on our website www.iscsohar.com
The next event lined up is the Blood
Donation drive on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. As 2nd
Oct. is a working day, the drive will be conducted on Friday, 5th Oct. in Sohar
Extended Health Centre, Humbar Sohar from 10 am to 4 pm. I call
upon all members of the Indian Community to come forward for this noble cause
and to show to the society where we stay that we care. Other nationalities are
welcome to join us as the message of peace of Mahatama Gandhi transcended all
boundaries.
The following week will see a cultural
extravaganza titled "Colours of India" to be held in Al Nahdha Garden on the
evening ofThursday, 11th Oct. 2012 by the members of the Indian
Community. All are welcome to take part in this cultural event in any language
and from any region of India. Groups interested in taking part to present dance, group songs, play, comedy
items, mime, magic show etc may
contact any member of the Executive Committee and specifically the following to
give your entries.

The last date for giving the group entries is Sunday, 30th Sept. 2012.
Entries will be screened if numbers are more. However we will try to adjust as
many entries as possible. We want a pan-India representation and I call upon all
communities to present at least one item from each part of the country. Entry is
free and the aim is to give oppurtunity to all to showcase their talent.
I call upon sponsors to come forward to help us conduct these events and more
which are lined up. Still calling upon someone to help conduct a Spell Bee
competition for kids. The date for the Antakhshri competition is finalized for
Friday, 7th Dec. 2012.
