Dear Friends,
At the outset on behalf of the Executive Comittee of ISC, Sohar I wish all of
you Eid Mubarak and happy Onam.
We have recently organized the Chess and Carrom tournament, a Gujrati dance
evening as well as we had a few children events as part of Independence day
celebrations. More such events are lined up. We will keep you informed of the
events as and when they are finalized.
A blood donation camp like last year on the occassion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth
anniversary is planned for Friday, 30th September 2011. The exact venue will be
intimated soon.
However what I wish to communicate to all of you is the sad news that our
Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Shri Anil Wadhwa is leaving Oman on
completion of his term here. He has been single handedly responsible for the
establishment of Indian Social Club, Sohar. He has also always been at the
forefront of encouraging talent and has been a Chief Guest at innumerable
cultural functions here in Sohar. He has also helped and encouraged the various
Indian establishments in Sohar Industrial Estate as well as in the Sohar Port
area.
Indian Social Club, Sohar on behalf of the Indian Community is
organising a farewell for H.E Shri Anil Wadhwa on Saturday 17th Sept. 2011 as that is the only day he is free in
his busy schedule. The send
off party for him is planned in Crowne Plaza Hotel from 7 pm onwards that day. The 2 hour function will
involve the felicitation of H.E Shri Anil Wadhwa and a small cultural
presentation from various parts of India by members of the Indian Community of
Sohar. The function will
conclude with a sit down dinner at the Ballroom in Crowne Plaza hotel.
With the help of a few sponsors we have been able to greatly subsidize the cost
of the dinner and the function. A token amount of R.O 3.000 will be charged per
individual to attend the dinner cum felicitation. As seating will be limited in
the ballroom for only 250 odd people, we request all those desirous of attending
the dinner felicitation to collect their dinner coupons on first cum first serve
basis by paying an amount of R.O 3.000 from the following location after 12 noon
tomorrow
1) Office of the Indian Social Club, Sohar in old Al Nahdha compound after 12
noon tomorrow (later between 9 am to 9 pm). To contact Mr Wasim @ 99228965
2) From Mr Mahadevan, Manager, Al Omaniya Finance Company next to E-Mart /
Sunlight restaurant in Sohar (from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm)
3) For companies and establishments desirous of making bulk bookings to contact
the undersigned at the earliest.
The entry to the event will be through the main lobby of Crowne Plaza hotel. The
main ball room doors will be closed for entry. For those unable to collect
dinner coupons in person may send mail to us with contact no. to reserve their
dinner coupons and if dinner slots are available they can collect it later.
(This depends on availability as it is on first come first serve basis)
I request the Indian Community of Sohar whether you are members or non-members
of Indian Social Club, Sohar to come out in large number to bid farewell to H.E
the Ambassador as he has truly served the interests of the Indian Community.
Lets make it a night for him to remember by turning out in large number.
