Dear Friends,

The Executive Committee of Indian Social Club, Sohar is pleased to announce a first time ever Open Quiz Tournament to be held on Friday, 30th Dec. 2011 in Al Nahdha Garden (old Al Nahdha office) from 5 pm onwards. The event will be conducted by Akshaye Purohit and Gaurav Mokashi both ex-students of Indian School, Sohar, who are now pursuing their Engineering course in premier institutes in India. They will be assisted in this by senior club members. Volunteers with experience in hosting Quiz shows may please send their names. This is in continuation of our aim to develop home grown talent. A few points to note about the Quiz event.

1. Team based event with minimum 2 and maximum 3 members in each team.
2. Team can be made with any combination of age and gender.
3. Each team to have a team name e.g. The Brain teasers, The Duffers etc.
4. Maximum number of teams taking part in the main event will be 16. If there are more teams then preference will be given to an all ISC, Sohar member team. A screening test will be conducted on the spot to filter teams for the main rounds.
5. Each qualifying round will have 3 rounds namely Direct Question Round, Subject choice round (e.g. Sports, Entertainemnt, History etc.) and a Buzzer round.
6. The Final round with winners of each qualifying round will have 4-6 rounds namely Direct Question, Audio-visual round, Buzzer round etc.
7. The questions may involve negetive marking also.
8. Decision of the Quiz masters will be final.

All those interested may please give their names and details like contact no., team names etc. to any Executive Committee member of Indian Social Club, Sohar with a nominal entry fee of R.O 1.000 for pure ISC, Sohar member team, R.O 2.000 for a member / non-member team and R.O 3.000 for a non-member team. Preference will be give to pure ISC, Sohar member team.

There are prizes for the audience and a number of audience questions have been planned. Entry to the event is free for the audience whether members or non-members. As it is an open air event and a chill is on in the evening please dress well. A small snack counter will be set up serving tea etc.

The event will be co-ordinated by Mrs. Sonali Khare (95163932) and Mr. Elangovan (95650662). Direct entries may also be given to them or any Executive Committee member latest by the evening of 28th Dec. 2011.

We invite corporate groups to help us organize this event by way of sponsorship. As it will be the last event of 2011, we may use this occasion to have a small New Year get together if a corporate group supports us. Any group interested may contact me and we can work out details. Prizes to the winners and participants may also be sponsored if a company so wants.

Just to inform all that due to delay in procuring visas for the artistes the Rajasthani folk music performance scheduled for Wed. 28th Dec. 2011 has been postponed for Jan./Feb. 2012. Details will be provided as and when there is more clarity.

I once again appeal to all to please renew their membership for the year 2012 as only those who renew their membership will be allowed to take part in events of ISC, Sohar. For this you may contact any Executive Committee member or bring money for renewal on the day of the Quiz event and it will be done on the spot.
