ISC, Sohar Election - 2023 Notice.

Date : 07-Feb-2023 Dear Friends and fellow members of the Indian Social Club, Sohar       The Executive Committee of Indian Social Club, Sohar announces Annual General Body meeting (AGM) & election to the Executive Committee for the year 2023-24. The AGM will be held at 7 pm on Friday, 17th March 2023 in our ISC Sohar Premises (Muwela Near by Sohar Hospital, Sohar). Only the active members who renewed their membership on or before the AGM are allowed to attend the AGM. The Agenda for the AGM is as follows. ● Welcome address by the President ● Approval of Minutes of last AGM ● General Secretary's Report ● Presentation of the Audited accounts ● Discussion of any specific issue, which has to be submitted by Monday 13th March to the isc.sohar@gmail.com with subject Kind Attn: General Secretary. ● Any other issue with the permission of the chair. A few salient points about the election. ● Election to the Executive Committee for 2023-24 ● The term of this Executive Committee formed in 2021 will expire soon. As per the Article of Association & as mandated by the Ministry of Social Development an election process has been put in place to elect a new Executive Committee for the year 2023 & 2024. ● The Presiding Officer of the election will be Mr Abraham George, CEO, Godrej & Khimji, Sohar (Mobile no.: 99346344). He will be assisted by Mr Ajay Damani, Muscat Pharmacy, Sohar (Mobile no.: 99260449). ● The General Secretary of the club Mrs. Sonali Khare (sskhare07@gmail.com) will coordinate the election process with the Presiding officers ● Election will take place for a 12 member Executive Committee. It is mandatory to have one lady member in the Executive Committee. ● The 12 candidates who secure the highest number of votes of those polled will be declared elected to the Executive Committee. ● The tenure of the Executive Committee will be for a 2 year term i.e. for 2023 & 2024. ● The 12 member Executive Committee will decide amongst themselves about the various office bearers for the day to day functioning of the club. ● Election date has been fixed for Friday, 17th March 2023 after the AGM. ● The election will take place as per the Article of Association of Indian Social Club, Sohar. ● In case of any doubts, complaints etc. the Presiding Officer decision will be final. ● The Presiding Officer will have a casting vote in case of a tie. ● The election will be conducted under the supervision of Indian Social Club, Oman as per the rules of the Ministry of Social Development, Sultanate of Oman. ● All those members who have completed 2 year continuous membership of Indian Social Club, Sohar as on 10th February 2023 will be eligible to stand for election to the Executive Committee. ● All those new members who are on the rolls of the club as of 14th February 2023 will be eligible to vote, propose or second a candidate. The full members list as on 10th February 2023 is on our website. ● Any member who intends to stand for election or proposes or seconds a candidate must have paid their dues / renewed their membership for 2023 on or prior to 10th February 2023. The nomination is liable to be rejected if the same is not done. ● All those members intending to vote must have also paid their dues on or 14th March 2023. Only those members who have paid their dues / renewed their membership for 2023 will be allowed to vote. ● Members will be asked for their Civil I.D card to prove identity. ● In case of family membership either of the spouses can vote. But only one vote per family will be allowed. ● In case of family membership either of the spouse can stand for election if the family membership is for more than 2 years. Both spouses cannot stand for election. ● No proxy voting will be allowed. The timeline for the election process will be as follows Notification of the Election process Tuesday, 07th February 2023 Last date of submission of nomination form Friday, 17th February 2023 Display of names of the candidates Friday, 24th February 2023 Last date for withdrawal of candidature Friday, 03th March 2023 Display of final list of candidates Friday, 10th March 2023 Date of AGM & Election Friday, 17th March 2023 The application form for the election to the post of Executive Committee member of ISC, Sohar is available for downloading from the Election 2023 section of our website Nomination Appllication Form. The completed application form along with copy of valid passport, copy of Civil ID card (both sides) have to be submitted physically to the Presiding Officer, Mr. Abraham George (CEO Godrej Khimji Sohar - 99346344) or Mr. Ajay Damani (General Manager Muscat Pharmacy, sohar - 99260449) on or before the last date of application i.e. Friday 17st February 2023.
